Grupo Dani started as a family business that has been able to adapt itself to market trends throughout time. Dani has evolved from being a spices and food preserves representative to produce, manufacture and distribute its own products, consolidating its position as one of the most important spices and food preserves companies in the current market.
1948: DANIEL SANCHEZ SIMON starts work as a Spice and Food sales representative.
1965: DANIEL SANCHEZ LLIBRE starts his professional career working alongside his father.
During this time, experience was gained and the idea of a company started to form.
1970: The company begins as a small enterprise in Vilassar de Mar with the name DANIEL SANCHEZ S.A.
Once the company is up and running, the job of a sales representative in spices is given up and the canning process begins. The brandname under which the food was canned was called "DS", a brand which still exists nowadays.
1975: The company starts to import food preserves.
This same year the first Pineapple in Syrup is imported from Thailand under the brandname "DS".
Gradually, and in 1985, the company gives up all sales representation.
1985: The brandname DANI is purchased.
From here on, the company focuses on the brandname DANI
1987: Foundation of DISTRIBUCIONES VILASSAR SA
1989: The opening of their own factory in Chile.
This eagerness to grow, fosters the opening of their own factory in Chile, specifically in the town of Ancud, located on the island of Chiloe.
Specializing in products such as Clams, Razor-shells, Jacknife clams, Winkles and Surf clams
1994: The opening of a sea-food production plant in China
(Joint venture with The People's Republic of China)
This plant is dedicated to the canned seafood product par excellence - Clams
1997: Exports from China blocked to present time.
This blockage of exports from China, spells the need to enter into joint ventures with other companies, in order to import white asparagus.
1999: A new factory opens in Carnota
With the Spanish market almos taken over, in 1999, the company opens a new factory. This time in Carnota, a small town in LaCoruña, Galicia.
This factory specialises in Octopus, Calamar(squid), Tuna; Cockles; Mackerel and Baby Squid
2000: DISTRIBUCIONES VILASSAR SA changes its name to CONSERVAS DANI SA.
This is due to the fact that the company is now more a Manufacturer than a DISTRIBUTOR.
Studies show DANI as market leader in cockles with a total market share of 38%, in both volume and value.
2002: DANI opens a new food proccessing plant (DANI FOODS)
Specialised in Cockles.
DANI is the first Spanish company to enter the English market with such an investment.
2004: The opening of a new cockle-processing plant in Wales(SELWYN'S LTD), United Kingdom
