Anise is a seed with a mild and sweet flavor, similar to licorice, native to the Middle East. It is widely used to give a characteristic flavor in pastry, bakery, confectionery and liqueurs. It is also used in seafood dishes, soups, sauces, pork dishes, vegetables, as well as typical Asian dishes.
